(that means “Merry Christmas” in Dutch by the way)
Last Saturday (5th December) saw my final wedding of the year, with Desiree and Adrian married at Pittodrie House.
Desiree had chosen the date , because for most children in Holland, the most important day during the Christmas Celebrations is 5th December, when Sinterklass (St. Nicholas) brings them their presents!
Traditionally St. Nicholas would hand out presents to good children, while it fell to Black Peter, (Zwarte Piet in Dutch) to dole out coal (and sometimes knocks on the head) to children who misbehaved.
