Stephanie & Lee – Wedding at Haddo House

We thought it was about time to look back over some of our beautiful weddings from last year, while we look forward  with great anticipation to our 2012 weddings!

We start with the stunning wedding of Stephanie and Lee at the gorgeous Haddo House, one of Scotland’s grandest country  houses. It is easy to feel as if you are attending a royal wedding at Haddo, considering it was built for entertaining and regularily played host to royalty and dignitaries over the centuries! Its fabulous Victorian interiors and impressive terraced gardens were the perfect setting for our beautiful couple.

Stephanie and Lee met in 2007. Lee proposed in style in 2009, in a lodge on the banks of Loch Lomond. Stephanie told us it was very romantic, as Lee had planned everything right down to the music in the background!

The couple said the best advice they received when planning the day was to plan well in advance. They had most things organised about two years ahead. Stephanie told us this was just as well in the case of her dress, as it turned out to be third time lucky!. The first dress was burned in a plane, and the second dress turned out to be the wrong one!

The only hiccup on the day was when Stephanie found she couldn’t get Lee’s ring on when they were saying their vows! This however amused everyone, and helped make the occasion nice and relaxed. Stephanie and Lee agreed that their favourite parts of their fantastic day were saying their vows and listening to their speeches.

After the day it was off to Malaysia for a spectacular honeymoon, where the couple visited Kuala Lumpar, Tama Negara Rainforest and Langkawi.

Lee’s favourite photo was the gorgeous one in front of Haddo, where he is tipping Stephanie backwards. He thinks it has a lovely relaxed feel.

Stephanie loved the photographs in the library as this was her favourite room, and where they said their vows.

You can see a video of the photography highlights here.

Looking forward to 2012!

Wow – what happened to 2011? We had such a great year photographing weddings (have you seen the highlights video yet?), and we can’t wait to get started on some new ideas we have for 2012, which is already even bigger!

However, we were lucky enough to have some wonderful family moments too.

With the end of one year, and looking forward to the next, it seemed like a good time to stop for a moment and remember the importance of our family, and how lucky we are to be happy and healthy.

For those of you who don’t know, we have two wonderful children. Our daughter Christie was 21 this year (where have the years gone?), and graduated from Emmanuel College Cambridge in July. Our son Elliot was 18 on Christmas Eve. Elliot is currently in sixth year at school, and  is busy working on his music career, when he is not studying for his exams. You can see some of his music on his Youtube channel here.

We have put together a video of our favourite moments from the year here. We hope you enjoy it.

With best wishes for the greatest 2012 you can imagine!

FriendsReunited – Wedding at Pittodrie House

Meet James and Emma – they met at school some 16/17 years ago. They briefly ‘dated’ then and then again at University when they were in their early 20s. However, things didn’t work out and they went their separate ways. It was ten years later when James contacted Emma through Friends Reunited, and the rest (as they say) is history. Third time lucky!!!

James proposed on bended knee at five minutes to midnight on Christmas Eve 2010 outside Prospect Park in Brooklyn, New York.

We asked a few more details:

Best advice you received? – “A friend told me that when she was getting married and it was getting too much her mother told her to take a moment, deep breath and then say to yourself “Let it go” – thankfully I didn’t have to do that too often but it was very good advice. Also, I was advised to put the time of the ceremony on the invitation as 15 minutes before it actually was.”

The Honeymoon Location? – “We’ve just spent 10 days in the Paradise that is the Maldives. We stayed at one of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Coco Palm Bodu Hithi. It was just out of this world. Words just cannot do it justice.”

Funniest Moment on the big day? – “James and I both managed to fluff our vows but James much more so than me!! If what he said is taken literally then I was married to everyone in the room!! This has caused much amusement on Facebook with friends commenting how lovely it is to be married to me and for me to go and make their dinner!!”

Best Part of the wedding day? – “the actual ceremony as that is the most important part and why we were all there. I have married my best friend and was delighted to have been surrounded by friends and family to witness this.”

Favourite Photograph? - I don’t have one particular favourite photograph – they are all fabulous. However, the photos taken with Bennachie in the background, the mist coming down and the fabulous autumnal colours are just truly magical.

And the “Movember” picture? – “My brother, Eion has been doing ‘Movember’ for the past few years. When I asked if he would give me away it didn’t dawn on me the date! Eion always has a full beard and moustache and didn’t want him to look totally different at the wedding. The promise of a much larger donation than usual ensured that he would not shave and therefore start Movember until after the wedding. Mum found the stick on moustaches and we thought it would be a great photo for me and some of the female guests to adorn these!! It was a fun part of the photo shoot and made for some great photos!!” You can see the “Movember” details here

Bride’s dress was supplied by Stephanie Bain at the Bridal Boutique in Cults. The designer was Justin Alexander. As she told us – “I absolutely loved my dress. It was completely different to anything I thought I’d ever wear but when I tried it on I knew it was MY dress. I actually cancelled appointments in some bridal shops in Glasgow as I didn’t want to try on any other dress as I felt as though I be ‘cheating’ on mine!!”

“My bridesmaid, Kay got her dress from John Lewis. As Kay lives outside London and is a new Mum we couldn’t get together often for bridesmaid dress shopping. We found this one online and managed to get it at John Lewis on Oxford Street, London. It was exactly what I was looking for and was so fortunate to have a bridesmaid who thought along the same lines.”

James got his kilt made by a friend Doreen, and the rest of his outfit was purchased from Highland Scene in Montrose. His Dad’s kilt was hired from McCalls.

Flowers – The Flower Room, Portlethen

Cake - Celebration Cakes

Stationary – You Are Invited

Make up – Frances of Chicabelle

Piper – Julie from Thistle Piping

Table Decorations – floral displays from The Flower Room, tea lights etc were prepared by Emma.

Entertainment – Eclipse supplied through XS Promotions.

We also had a fireworks display provided by Fireworx. We couldn’t not have fireworks as we were the day before Guy Fawkes!!

It certainly was a magical day at Pittodrie House for the wedding in November. The atmosphere was quite special, with the sunset, the mist and the autumn colours.

We were delighted to be a part of it, and wish James and Emma all the best for a wonderful future together!

Linda Henderson - As mother of the bride I was naturally nervous, but with Emma’s organisational skills and attention to detail the whole day went to plan – no hitches at all.
Emma and James’ choice of suppliers meant that even the preparations went smoothly.
I loved being involved every step of the way, especially the pampering side! Who wouldn’t love getting their hair and make up done by professionals?
On the day the staff at Pittodrie House were great. Helen and John put everyone at their ease.
Michaela came to do the prep. photos and was very patient with us, calming our nerves as Graham was picturing the guests downstairs before the ceremony.
The atmosphere was very relaxed, a great mix of friends and family all there wishing Emma and James all the best.
We even had a bit of fun included with the ‘Movember’ photo! Loved the day!

Wedding at Meldrum House Hotel – Victoria & Stuart

Welcome to the wonderful wedding of Victoria and Stuart at the stunning Meldrum House Hotel.

The history of this wonderful luxury Scottish hotel dates back to the 13th century, although it was not until the 1950’s that it finally opened as a hotel. We had a great day with Victoria and Stuart, who were a very relaxed couple, which of course helped to make our job a bit easier!

The best advice Victoria and Stuart received when planning the wedding was of course to plan well in advance and to make sure the first things you organise are the venue, photographer and the band. They also thought it was good to listen to the advice of family and friends, but not to be too distracted from their own ideas.

Victoria and Stuart may be newlyweds, but they have known each other for a long time. They met in school nearly eight years ago! Their romance continued even though they went on to study at universities in two different cities. When it came to proposing, Stuart planned the occasion well in advance. Unknown to Victoria he had already asked her parents for their blessing and was planning a surprise 21st birthday dinner for her. He even tried to fool Victoria by saying he couldn’t make it up for her birthday! All was forgiven however when Victoria returned home to red roses, a romantic dinner and ….. a marriage proposal!

Victoria said one of her favourite photos was taken as she and Stuart were walking out of the ceremony and past the fountain. This is because it captured their expressions as they spent their first moments as a happy married couple. That was great for us to hear, as it is these special moments that we are continually striving to capture!

Another emotional moment for Victoria was when she and Stuart sat down to their meal and looked out over all their family and friends who had come to share their special day. It made them both feel very blessed.

Victoria and Stuart had the perfect honeymoon spent at a Spanish Villa right on the top of a hill which had fantastic sea views.

Now the happy couple are eagerly awaiting the completion of their wonderful storybook album, so they can spend many happy hours reliving their wonderful day.

Congratulations and best wishes to a lovely couple for a wonderful future together!

Meet Lesley and Michael – A wedding at King’s College Aberdeen

As you can see, Lesley was a stunning bride, and she and Michael were great fun to work with.

To get to know them a bit better, we asked Lesley how she and Michael met.

Lesley first met Michael at the start of 2005, through a mutual friend. When Michael decided the time was right to propose, he was determined that Lesley would not be expecting it. So, instead of proposing while on holiday in Spain, he waited till they got back and proposed one Friday night in their local country pub!

Michael stuck with tradition when he asked Lesley’s dad for her hand in marriage the next day, (obviously a true gentleman) before they chose the ring together.

Next, we asked about the highlights of their special day( apart from the photography obviously).

Lesley remembers her wedding day as being full of laughter, from the moment she and her Dad shared a joke while waiting to walk up the aisle, to their fantastic evening reception where their band had all the family up on stage at various points!

She summed up the best moments of the day as, meeting Mike at the top of the aisle, Mike’s sister Ali singing while they signed the register and of course spending time with friends and family.

She also said it had been great spending so much girl time with her Mum and sister in all the planning stages.

Lesley and Michael enjoyed a fabulous honeymoon in Mauritius, staying at a luxury golf and spa resort. They spent time relaxing on the beach and Mike enjoyed golfing. They even spent a day at the horse racing where Lesley bet on the outsider and won nearly £100! I can imagine that bought a few nice cocktails in the evening!

All that remains to be said is best wishes from us to a lovely couple for a fantastic future together!
