Rubislaw Studio bio picture

Pleased to meet you!

Thanks for visiting my website.

My name is Graham Noble, wedding photographer in Aberdeen, Scotland.

I specialise in wedding photography which is beautifully posed in a classic, elegant, style, with a second photographer adding a touch of photojournalism to catch the day as it happens.

We produce custom designed storybook albums, printed by Graphistudio in Italy.

Enjoy the blog entries, which I hope will give you an insight into both my wedding photography, and home life.

Caroline & Craig – A huge thank you.

As many of you will know, “Your Wedding Exhibition” was held at the AECC last weekend. The show is always a great time for us to meet clients past, present and future, as they spend time at the show browsing the exhibitor stands.

I am not always the most organised, and I was late in ordering my new display album from Graphistudio in Italy, leaving me without a new display album for the show.

I remembered I had delivered a lovely wedding album a few weeks earlier to Craig & Caroline, who were married in October at Chapel of Garioch Parish Church, with the reception at Pittodrie House.

A quick phone call later, and I was able to borrow their album to show on my stand at the show.

I have posted a few of the (many) highlights from their photographs below.

With the return to work after the festive break, I finally got around to reviewing all the photographs I took over the holidays. I really liked the surreal look of this picture taken out of the front window of the house on 23 december. With the inconvenience caused by the snow, it was easy to forget how beautiful it looked.

Prettige Kerstfeest!

(that means “Merry Christmas” in Dutch by the way)
Last Saturday (5th December) saw my final wedding of the year, with Desiree and Adrian married at Pittodrie House.

Desiree had chosen the date , because for most children in Holland, the most important day during the Christmas Celebrations is 5th December, when Sinterklass (St. Nicholas) brings them their presents!

Traditionally St. Nicholas would hand out presents to good children, while it fell to Black Peter, (Zwarte Piet in Dutch) to dole out coal (and sometimes knocks on the head) to children who misbehaved.

Isla and David at Norwood Hall

Saturday saw the wedding of Isla and David at Norwood Hall.

It was a terribly dull rainy day, so photography in the grounds was out of the question. Lucky for me, Norwood has some wonderful locations for photography inside the hotel.

Last of the Autumn colours?

Yesterday we were at the Marriott Hotel in Dyce for the wedding of Lesley and Alan. We set off to Stoneywood House in search of a more natural setting, only to find that all the leaves had fallen from the trees, except in one corner of the grounds, where I captured some of the wonderful colours.

Trash the dress – update

IMG_9502sep-w900

Who could have predicted the great excitement which followed our “trash the dress” session? First there was an article printed in the “Evening Express” on thursday. Then we were approached by two news agencies who wanted to submit features using our pictures to the national press, with one feature printed on  friday in the “Sun“.

Unfortunately both features seemed to concentrate on the “trashing” of the dress, instead of the concept of creating some unique images without concern for spoiling the dress, and free from the time pressures of the wedding day. Maybe I should have used the other popular name for these sessions – “Rock the Frock”.

Trash the Dress!

welcome to my first blog entry.

You may not have heard of the “trash the dress” idea before. Opinions are certainly divided, with most people either loving or hating the idea. The concept seems to have originated in Las Vegas in 2001, with the idea being to mix an elegant dress, with inappropriate surroundings, where the dress may get wet, stained, torn, or otherwise damaged.

Love it or hate it – I was delighted with the pictures we took. The weather was the best we could have hoped for with brilliant sunshine for our session on Saturday morning. Special mention must also go to Laurie, who never complained, despite the fact that the temperature was close to freezing.

Enjoy the pictures. You can see the rest of the session listed under “recent weddings” on my website www.rubislaw.com
